Hospitality Internship +

Restaurant Management

Training Program

Training Program runs from May 16h through August 15th.

OVERVIEW

  • As a trainee for this 60-seat, full-service restaurant you are responsible for learning all the basic aspects of front-of-house and back-of-house operations.

  • Day-to-day, participants will train for and perform nearly every position in the restaurant.

  • The ideal candidate has an interest in a career within the hospitality industry.

  • Availability for the duration is mandatory.

  • Participants are able to arrange university credit.

  • GROW Internship Scholarship Contest with $5000 in season-end awards.

  • We will be selecting up to 4 interns for the 2023 season.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • The internship is structured into 13, week-long ‘units’. Each week includes reading assignments, writing/research assignments, onsite work assignments and a field trip. (Field trips are usually food + drink excursions!)

  • Students are responsible for securing their own housing.

  • 40 hours of paid onsite work + 5 hours of homework each week

  • Overtime hours may be available

  • Pay starts at $20/hour (with eligibility for performance raises throughout the season)

  • Interns will be eligible to compete for a $2500 scholarship

Week 7 - Grassroots + Social Media Marketing

Week 8 - Finance + Accounting

Week 9 - Staffing, HR + Recruitment

Week 10 - Identity: Who Are We?

Week 11 - Operational Efficiency + Six Sigma

Week 12 - Management + Leadership Theory

Week 13 - Event Planning

QUALIFICATIONS

You are currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a collegiate business, hospitality, or culinary program.

You have open availability throughout the duration of the program, including: days, nights, weekends and holidays (including mandatory Memorial Day and 4th of July weekends)

You are focused and reliable (a must)

You are passionate about food and drink and interested in learning how to create elevated dining experiences

You are able to lift up to 50 pounds

Experience in the restaurant industry is NOT required, but always taken into consideration
